Paige Thomas soars with Rihanna comparisons on ‘X Factor’

Aspiring recording artist Paige Thomas made a strong impression on the season premiere of “X Factor” Wednesday.

Drawing comparisons to Rihanna, the single mother of one connected with the entire judging panel when singing the Mary J. Blige hit “I’m Goin’ Down.”

You’re so bright and beautiful onstage,” said Britney Spears. “You’re flawless.

Agreeing with Spears, L.A. Reid called to mind Rihanna as he praised Thomas, who appeared to somewhat channel the “Talk That Talk” singer.

You’re a star. It’s time for you to get with it,” said L.A. Reid. “You remind me of that girl I met five or six years ago in my office and her name is… Rihanna.

Claiming there was something special about Rihanna back then, Reid said he felt the same with Paige Thomas.

Taking in each comment with her daughter standing just offstage, Thomas began to shed tears.

I think you’re gorgeous and you’re totally a superstar,” said Demi Lovato.

Simon Cowell agreed, celebrating the fact that the 21-year-old had a child, was pursuing her dreams, and attending college.

Paige what I love about you is that you’ve got this beautiful kid. You’ve got a responsibility and you’re taking it seriously. That is why this is one of my favorite auditions because of you. You are commercial with a capital “C.” I have very, very good feelings about you. I think you’re special. I really do,” said Cowell.

With all of that said, Paige Thomas received a “yes” from the entire panel and will continue on to “X Factor” boot camp.

“X Factor” returns with more auditions Thursday night at 8 p.m. on FOX.
