Rihanna will be the inspiration behind Stella McCartney‘s next collection

Team GB kit designer Stella McCartney is turning to new friend Rihanna for inspiration for her latest collection.

McCartney, 40, and the Bajan singer, whose single Umbrella kicked off last week’s Paralympics Opening Ceremony, met two years ago and are now thinking of collaborating on a fashion range.

Bonding over fashion: Rihanna tweeted this picture of herself with Stella McCartney and supermodel Kate Moss (left) earlier this year.

They have been having regular chats,” says my source.

They call them “mood calls”. Stella rings Rihanna and asks her to explain what has influenced her mood that day – colours, textures, patterns.

Stella feels she needs to tap into a younger generation and Rihanna is happy to help. It’s a bizarre way to create a fashion line but they work well together.

Rihanna hit the headlines yesterday after bouncers tried to throw her out of a London nightclub for breaking a table.

Meanwhile, her first foray into fashion has not been a huge success, as her Sky Living show Styled To Rock, in which young designers try to create an outfit for her, has had low ratings.
